We are very excited to announce the launch of our 2022 SE Theatre Company Development Network.

What is it?  A paid peer-support opportunity granting a group of 5 company leaders funded time to train, share skills, and develop their strategic thinking.  We’ll meet every other month for 2 hours, and in this time each company will receive free training, as well as an attendance fee of £75 per 2-hour session (£450 over the year).  There will also be opportunities for some of the companies to lead sessions, for which there is an additional fee.

Why are we doing it? In the wake of Covid, our sector and the organisations that comprise it are undergoing enormous change.  We think it’s critical that the intersectional conversations that we started under lockdown continue to inspire and shape our creative strategies as we move into recovery.  We also know that small organisations—and their leaders especially—are firefighting as they manage this period of transition.  Freelance and part-time leaders in particular are under increased pressure, so that added demands on their time—even for free networking and development—are hard to commit to without pay.

Who is it for? Mid-career leaders running project-funded organisations in the South East of England with a delivery track record. We are especially interested in hearing from organisations that employ their leaders on a freelance or part-time basis, and who create theatre with and for people who are currently underrepresented in our industry.

How do I apply?  The application process is simple and should take about 20 minutes to complete.  We’re open to applications being submitted in other formats (audio, video, visual) and have included an opportunity to link to this on the form.  Applications are due by December 17th and can be filled out here Interviews will be held w/c 17th January.

Theatre Témoin is a South East based physical and visual theatre company committed to amplifying marginalised voices in socially urgent conversations.  The South East Theatre Company Development Network is generously supported by Arts Council England – South East.  Through this fund we are committed to up-skilling company leaders, and creating stronger networks between companies in the region so that we can build back better, together.
