We are so excited to be working with Butshilo.

Butshilo Nleya is a Zimbabwean dramatist, director, festival curator, and teacher of dance and drumming.

Words as Bullets

Written in 2019 and premiered at the York Festival of Ideas and was also performed at the Great Yorkshire Fringe.

'A', a young woman from Paris, is travelling through Europe drastic protest. 'B', a young woman from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, is travelling, fleeing poverty and inevitable forced marriage. The two have a chance encounter when their trains pull into a station – unravelling their stories.
