Casting Call – “Mia”


After a critically-acclaimed Edfringe Run with sell-out shows at the Pleasance King Dome, FEED is coming to VAULT Festival ahead of an Autumn 2019 national tour. We are looking for a new cast member to take over the role of “Mia”.

Mia is a 14-year-old beauty blogger, who finds herself at the heart of a viral media storm after reacting to a photo of a murdered Palestinian child. Through the workings of the click-machine, Mia is encouraged to express her pain about the child’s plight in increasingly extreme and disturbing ways, eventually becoming a caricature of herself and her own empathetic pain.

Theatre Temoin is a visual / physical theatre company. Drawing on farce and bouffon, FEED is a play that begins in naturalism and pushes into more grotesque theatrical territory, and this role would suit an actress who is well-trained in naturalism as well as in heightened / stylised theatrical forms.

Qualifications – Essential:

  • Aged 18 or older as of Feb 17th, 2019
  • Very Young Looking – Playing age: 14
  • Strong and empathetic natural quality
  • Strong ability to perform in a more heightened style (bouffon / slapstick / farce / grotesque).
  • Ability to learn lines and choreography quickly
  • Some devising experience

Qualifications – Desirable:

  • Extensive devising experience
  • Small and Middle scale ensemble touring experience
  • Ensemble-driven “Theatre Maker” as opposed to simply “Actor”.


FEE – Equity (£1500 for 3 weeks)

This is a London-based contract, artist is expected to have own base in London and no further subsistence or travel is available above the fee.

Feb 18th – March 1st: Mon-Fri 10am-6pm

Tech Rehearsals

March 4th – 10am-4pm: Rehearsal in Space

March 5th – 3pm – 6:30pm: Tech 1

March 6th – 10am – 12:30pm: Tech 2


March 6th – 10th – 7pm call for 7:45pm Show

March 9th – Additional matinee 4pm call for 4:45pm show.

National Touring

TOURING AUTUMN 2019 – This will be paid at or above equity minimum, and will be contracted separately. Dates will be dotted through September – November 2019, and company will work around both actor and venue availability, but artist is expected to be flexible and amenable to touring.
